Kargil Vijay Diwas

FAMT celebrated “‘ Kargil Vijay Diwas Day on 27th July 2023 to express gratitude and appreciation to the soldiers.

Kargil Vijay Diwas, named after the successful Operation Vijay, is celebrated in India on 26 July 2019, every year to remember and mark tribute to our martyrs and soldiers who fought for the country in the Kargil War of 1999.  This day honours the sacrifices and valour of Indian soldiers who fought bravely in the difficult and treacherous terrain of the Kargil region. EESA marked Kargil Vijay Diwas to create awareness among the student community about the sacrifices made by our armed forces and instil a sense of patriotism and respect for our soldiers.

The event commenced with the Indian National Anthem. All students, faculty, and attendees stood up in unity, showcasing their respect and reverence for the country.  A documentary about the Kargil War was screened after the short introduction. It depicted the true stories of soldiers, their families, and the overall situation during the war. A wall was set up where students could express their gratitude and pay tribute to the soldiers. Students were encouraged to write messages, draw paintings, or leave symbolic items to honour the sacrifices of the soldiers. The students showcased their respect and support for the armed forces.

The Principal, Dr. Kaushal Prasad motivated everyone to embrace their roles as responsible citizens. Similarly, the Head Dr. Jayant Mane delivered a speech acknowledging the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and emphasising the responsibilities of the educators and students.

MS Shraddha from BE Electrical eloquently addressed the audience evoking a sense of patriotism and gratitude for the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers. A student from the TE Electrical Ms Anjali’s words resonated with the audience with a renewed spirit of unity and support for our armed forces.

The video made by students was screened displaying the interviews with students from various grades, sharing their reflections on the sacrifices made by our soldiers during the Kargil conflict. The video included powerful visuals, heart-warming messages, and a sense of unity among the students. They skilfully edited and compiled the footage, ensuring that it encapsulated the essence of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

The technical team took initiative to arrange a quiz on Kargil Vijay Diwas. It encouraged participation and provided an interactive way for people to learn more about the historical significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

The decoration team’s effort in creating a visually appealing ambience for the event, particularly through blackboard decorations related to the Kargil War and soldiers, is commendable.
