The Safer Internet Day 2026 Seminar titled “Smart Tech, Safe Choices – Exploring the Safe and Responsible Use of AI” was conducted by Prof. Sprooha Athalye, Assistant Professor in the CSE (AI & ML) Department at Finolex Academy of Management and Technology. A total of 43 Second-Year students attended the session.
Prof. Athalye explained the significance of Safer Internet Day and elaborated on the theme, emphasizing informed and responsible digital decision-making. The session covered digital footprints, common cyber threats such as phishing, malware, and identity theft, cyber hygiene practices including strong passwords and two-factor authentication, and responsible social media usage. Special focus was given to risks associated with Artificial Intelligence, including deepfakes, misinformation, privacy issues, and plagiarism, along with guidance on ethical AI usage in academics.
The seminar also highlighted Government of India initiatives like CyberShikshak and CyberYuva, providing free e-learning courses on cybersecurity and digital safety. The event concluded with a strong message that internet safety is a shared responsibility, and practicing good cyber hygiene and smart technological choices can contribute to a safer digital society. The session successfully achieved its objective of spreading awareness among students.
