Online Safety and Responsible Use of AI

An awareness session on “Online Safety, Cyber Hygiene, and Responsible Use of the Internet and Artificial Intelligence” was organized by the Computer Science and Engineering (CS) Department at Finolex Academy of Management and Technology, Ratnagiri, on 10th February 2026 for Second-Year Cyber Security students, with 36 participants.

The session was conducted in observance of Safer Internet Day 2026, aligned with the national theme “Smart Tech, Safe Choices – Exploring the Safe and Responsible Use of AI” and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s ISEA initiative. It aimed to sensitize students about cyber threats, promote cyber hygiene, and encourage responsible digital practices.

Students were shown real-life case studies and videos demonstrating how cyber criminals exploit AI for scams, including voice cloning, impersonation, emotional manipulation, and spam-based financial fraud. The interactive discussion enabled participants to share experiences, clarify doubts, and enhance practical understanding of safe online behavior. The session strengthened students’ cybersecurity awareness, critical thinking, and preparedness to tackle evolving digital threats.
