The two-day “Protection and Conservation of Visapur Fort” drive was conducted at Bhaje Village, near Malavali Railway Station in Taluka Maval, District Pune. The initiative was organized by the NSS unit of Savitribai Phule Pune University in collaboration with Tikaram Jagannath Arts, Commerce and Science College, Khadki. The primary aim of the drive was to engage youth in the preservation and restoration of local heritage sites.
On the second day, volunteers began their activities with an early breakfast, followed by a trek to Visapur Fort. Their enthusiasm and energy remained high throughout the day. Upon reaching the fort, the participants immediately began the cleanup drive, working collectively to restore the site’s natural and historical charm. Armed with gloves and garbage bags, they diligently collected plastic waste and debris scattered across the fort premises.
Dr. Nilesh Kale enhanced the experience by sharing valuable insights into the historical significance of the fort, deepening the volunteers’ appreciation for the site. As the drive came to a close, the participants exchanged warm farewells and best wishes, reflecting on the enriching experience of contributing to the conservation of cultural heritage.
