Independence Day

On August 15th, 2024, I²IT commemorated India’s 78th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotism on the college campus. The celebrations were graced by our esteemed chief guest, Colonel Lalit Rai, Vir Chakra, who is celebrated for his exemplary bravery and leadership during the Kargil War. The event commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony, followed by a warm welcome from our principal, Dr. Vaishali Patil. Col Rai delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing the true essence of independence in today’s world, highlighting the importance of freedom from bad habits and the excessive use of phones and social media. He encouraged everyone to develop compassion, respect, and concern for others, appreciate the little blessings in life, and to smile more often. His words left a lasting impact on the audience.

Dr. Aruna M Katara, President of the Hope Foundation and Research Centre, further inspired the youth by emphasizing the need to always put the nation first, stressing that collective efforts will help India continue its path of greatness.

At FAMT, the event featured a series of performances and activities, showcasing the talent and patriotism of students and faculty members:

  • Rangoli by Mr. Ganesh Parab: A beautiful rangoli design depicting the Indian tricolor and a soldier, symbolizing national pride, was created by Mr. Ganesh Parab.
  • Speech by Ms. Aditi Shotri: Ms. Aditi Shotri delivered an inspiring speech that highlighted the significance of independence and the sacrifices made by freedom fighters.
  • Letter to the Defense Forces – Reading by Mr. Tarvesh Vichare: A heartfelt letter addressed to the Indian Defense Forces, expressing gratitude and admiration for the soldiers’ unwavering dedication and sacrifices, was read by Mr. Tarvesh Vichare.
  • Patriotic Song by Mr. Harsh Chavan: The celebration concluded with a melodious and soul-stirring rendition of a patriotic song by Mr. Harsh Chavan.

The event concluded with a delightful breakfast and sweets, leaving everyone with a sense of joy, unity, and renewed dedication to the nation’s values.
