Hands-on Training in Data Science using Python

The ‘Hands-on Training in Data Science using Python’ was organized by the FAMT on 30 April, 2021 and 01 May, 2021. Mr. Venugopal Adep (Technical Delivery Manager) from Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association of America (TIAA) conducted these hands-on training sessions. 163 FAMT students of all branches have taken the advantage of these online hands-on training through Google Meet and Youtube Live from 09.00 a.m. to 01.00 p.m. on both the days. The main objective behind organizing this training was to provide career guidance for students so as to become job-ready along with development of essential skillset.

The session helped students to know regarding what Data Science is all about and after gaining the knowledge of this domain what opportunities are there in the industry.  Resource person explained the roles and responsibilities associated with various job positions available such as data analyst, data scientist, etc.; what skillsets are required for that and what are the ways to build these skillsets.

Day-1 of training was focused upon hands-on sessions related to data processing and data visualization using different Python packages. Day-2 was entirely devoted for detailed discussion of 10+ real-world case studies of Data Science encompassing various sectors like education, business, marketing, telecom, medical, banking and finance, etc. along with hands-on supported by insights from the data visualization obtained through different types of plots/charts.

Apart from this, students were also made aware about the systematic career path development from Data Science to Deep Learning via Machine Learning. At the end, the multiple choice questions(MCQ) based test was conducted so as to test the knowledge gained by the participants. Based on qualifying score in test, E-certificates were issued to all the successful candidates. All the students expressed a vivid interest in attending and benefiting from more such sessions in future.
